• Services provide more convenient options for online shoppers to pick up packages, and is in line with the company’s vision of "Connecting People, Improving Lives"

Taipei, December 1, 2017: To enhance its last-mile capabilities and provide customers with more flexible and convenient pick-up options, DHL Express, the world's leading international express services provider, has launched DHL Lockers as well as its partnership with Chunghwa Post's iBox. Combined, DHL Lockers and Chunghwa Post’s iBox service locations will number more than 100 by the end of this year and will significantly improve the convenience of package pickup for cross-border e-commerce consumers all across Taiwan.

As part of the initial launch, these will be deployed across 70 locations, particularly in DHL's northern, central and southern Service Centers, including those located in Taipei City, New Taipei City, Taoyuan, Hsinchu, Chiayi, Tainan and Kaohsiung as well as the Kaohsiung Formosa Boulevard MRT Station, Zuoying MRT Station, and Kaohsiung Arena MRT Station.

With the vigorous development of e-commerce, end consumers are now able to purchase goods from anywhere in the world via the Internet. However, a significant number of such B2C or C2C packages are often not delivered to customers at the first attempt or even second attempt, due to factors such as incorrect addresses or customers not being at the destination to receive their package. This creates a hassle for consumers and businesses, and also makes the last-mile delivery process less efficient for logistics operators.

The launch of DHL Lockers and partnership with Chungwa Post’s iBox addresses this issue, and consumers now have the option to collect their shipments at any of these points, in addition to any of the 3,000 FamilyMart outlets across the country.

Customers can select their option via DHL's complimentary "On Demand Delivery" online system before the courier arrives with the package. In the event consumers miss this window, their shipments will be forwarded and stored at a DHL Locker at a DHL Service Centers, or at a Chungwa Post iBox. Customers can pick up their package at any time of the day at their convenience – even beyond the operating hours of the Service Centers. Prior to collecting their items, customers are required to enter a password via the ODD online system. After which, they will receive a text message with another password, the location of DHL Locker, and pickup deadline.

Following the launch of On Demand Delivery in Taiwan, DHL Express has seen an increase in successful first delivery attempts for inbound B2C and C2C shipments the country to 95%, garnering rave reviews from consumers and customers alike, while significantly reducing the business costs incurred with second delivery attempts. DHL Express will continue to stay abreast of growing online shopping trends and provide new and better services that live up to customers’ reliance and increasingly high expectations of the international express delivery network.
