2017 Asia-Pacific Regional Conference (APRC) Concluded


The 2017 APRC in Perth, Australia, successfully concluded on Sunday. Over three days, and with more than 1000 international delegates, this year’s event shed light on some of the most significant policy issues today. With highly ranked senior government officials attending, including the President of the Federal Republic of Germany, Frank Walter Steinmeier and the Prime Minister of Australia, Malcolm Turnbull, it marked the most significant bilateral conference between Germany and Australia. The event brought together a diverse mix of experts and professionals from numerous countries and industries, who engaged in constructive discussions on various topics such as Industry 4.0, energy, education, urban mobility, or global free trade developments. GTO’s Executive Director, Axel Limberg, took part in the panel discussion on Greater China and provided insight into the opportunities and challenges in doing business in Taiwan. Taiwan is currently actively engaged in the development of renewable energy sources, as it plans to phase out nuclear power by 2025. With its New Southbound Policy, Taiwan also aims to enhance cooperation in Southeast Asia, South Asia, as well as Australasia. The 16th Asia Pacific Conference of German Business will take place in Jakarta, Indonesia from 01 – 03 November 2018.
