All companies that operate and hire employees in Taiwan are subject to Taiwan’s labor laws, principally the Labor Standards Act (LSA). March 1, 2018, saw a set of amendments come into force that has created some new opportunities for businesses to improve their internal work rules and offer increased scheduling flexibility to employees. This seminar will give an overview of the LSA and its recent amendments. Participants can then discuss in depth how to revise company work rules to best comply with LSA requirements, and how to include new options like compensatory overtime leave.

Speaker introduction:

Michael WERNER is a Senior Associate with Eiger and a licensed German attorney. Michael has over a decade in handling corporate and related labor law matters in Taiwan for some of the world’s most well-known companies. An in-demand speaker, he regularly addresses both European and Greater China audiences on Taiwan-related HR trends.  

Nathan SNYDER is an Associate with Eiger and a licensed attorney in the U.S. Nathan has contributed to several American Bar Association publications on labor law in Taiwan. He assists several major American companies with their HR matters on the island.  

Jeffrey LIEN
is an Associate with Eiger and a licensed Taiwan attorney. Jeffrey served as inhouse counsel in the HR department for one of the world’s most famous airlines before joining Eiger in 2015.
